SNOW!!!

March 1st and we have SNOW!! I gave Kaden's snow pants away thinking we wouldn't EVER have a need for them...oops! I feel awful, but at least he had plenty of pants to layer up. Morgan's clothing consisted of a snow suit sized 12/18 months (she's wearing a 4T now), infant hat and gloves/mittens layered up, scarf (thank you KT), and a pair of boots that squished her toes all up!!! Hey, we improvised and we heard no complaining...just fun filled laughter! Kolton actually made out, with snow pants and a coat that fit! Jamie's such a good dad/sport - he'll endure the cold weather to make sure our children have a great time. This is definitely a hot chocolate morning.

***UPDATE: Sadly, the snow melted leaving no trace behind by noon.***

Fun Outside

Morgan hates being left out, especially when it means the boys are playing outside!

She could only take it so long, being left out. She was half prepared...gloves and hat!

She has figured out that if she puts clothes on, she has a better chance of getting to go outside. Here she's playing with RJ, one of the neighbors who is so kind to her.

Grant Joshua, our new nephew/cousin!

Grant Joshua Overfield is here! He decided to come early, he wasn't due for another 11 weeks! Samantha and Josh are the proud parents of this LITTLE guy coming into the world at 3 lbs 8 oz. He just couldn't wait, but he is doing super, and is healthy (as far as I'm told)...just early and tiny. He was born in Oklahoma City, but they had to life flight him up to Tulsa because the NICU was full in OKC. WE'RE PROUD OF YOU, SAMMIE AND JOSH - AND WE LOVE YOU, GRANT!!! We'll see you soon!!

Is there a book or class for Cell-Phone-Dummies?

Yesterday I was setting up my new cell phone, trying to familiarize myself with it. See, I'm one of those people who carries a cell phone, might make a few calls, but am still so tech-illiterate that I don't usually text or anything else. I don't have the skills to take pictures and get them sent to people - it doesn't work for me! But I took a picture of the kids and attempted to send it to my mom. As soon as I hit "send" a message popped up saying, "Saving to Send"...I thought it meant it was being sent to a different location and I'd have to go retrieve it, or maybe it got lost somewhere. So I kept hitting the "send" button. I get a text back from "Mom" and it said, "Who are you?" I started laughing, because I thought somehow in getting a new phone that maybe it didn't identify who I was on her end (I told you I'm no smarty-pants with this stuff, so you can continue to laugh). So I send back, "Miss Text Dummy"...getting a good chuckle, thinking "Mom" will too. I get another text back saying, "Leave me alone"...by this time I'm thinking I must have actually sent all those texts when I thought it wasn't working! So then I picture this crazy confused look on my poor mother's face and start laughing hysterically, to tears actually. I called Jamie at work and relayed what had happened and he started laughing, too. He said "You should reply with 'You can't make me'" and I started laughing even harder thinking about how funny that would be for "Mom" to receive a text reply "You can't make me" to her "Leave me alone" - I mean, I was crying and laughing so hard at this thought. So instead I texted, "Mom trying to send pic of kids Jamie said I should reply You can't make me"...thinking she'll figure out it's me...again more laughing and tears on my end. I then call my sister to relay all the funny texting going on, and she laughs with me, too - we're both just picturing my poor mother trying to get away from this crazy texter! Then I get another text that says, "I'm turning my phone of bc I don't know you" - again I erupt into tears and laughter. I walk away to compose myself and then after a few minutes my curiosity gets the best of me and I go over and realize that I had been texting someone other than my mother! I got the last digit wrong on the phone number! So I just started laughing at myself and proceeded to send my mother an e-mail to relay what had transpired, the subject line was "your daughter, the retard" I did resend the photo to her cell phone, and she actually got it - whew! At least I know it works now! I also sent the poor recipient a final text apologizing for the mix-up and they sent me a "LOL it's ok." I am entitled to a blond moment every now and then!

Playing Outside

Kaden is a bit embarrassed about his singing, but it wasn't the singing I was attempting to capture - it was all the giggling! You'll notice Kolton and Morgan jumping, they're pretending to jump on a trampoline.

One Braid

This was taken over a week ago, but she had asked for a braid to sleep in. She's not asking or letting me braid as much, but I know it'll soon change again. I am hoping that the more she looks at the blog and sees how pretty her braids are that she'll start asking again.

This baby loves yoga!

Morgan saw me stretching this morning and decided she was going to join in. When I stopped, she expressed her frustration and let me know she wanted to join me. So I walked her through a series of poses and she loved it...even wanted me to take pictures. We were pushing the clock to get to the gym for my yogalates class, so I had to inform her that our session was over and she was not happy - she wanted more. Maybe next time, but here's our mini-workout from this morning...enjoy!

Half-Moon - she couldn't master standing on one leg, so I showed her the modified pose - voila!

Downward Dog - she's a pro at this one.

Split-pose - another practiced pose. Minor hair malfunction, our braids just kind of disintegrated so we had to opt for some pigtails (or two ponies as Morgan calls them).

Warrior I - First attempt (looks more like Warrior II), needs some work...we'll get there. Warrior III attempted, but "I can't do that one" was her reply after a couple tries.

Awkward Chair - pretty good actually.

I also had her try the Ostrich (similar to this, only the leg is bent instead of stretched), but again "I can't do that" was her answer after a couple of attempts.

Braids

Morgan has recently started letting me pull her hair up in ponies, or pigtails, or barrettes...but not every day and not an all day hairstyle. This morning she told me she wanted "two little ponies". So I set to work, with an idea in mind already - I was working against the clock...I didn't know how long it would take her to notice I was doing something out of the norm. Her hair is so baby fine, and it's not perfect (not even close), but I got braids today! I even took her into the bathroom, turned her around, and held a mirror up so she could see. She loved it! She started running through the house shaking her head from side to side to feel her pony ends hitting the back of her neck. Maybe she'll let me continue to practice on a more regular basis? Success for Mom today - it might just be a good day despite PMS from hell! Oh, for those of you who go for a close up, that's chocolate from breakfast on Morgan's mouth - gotta love Betty Crocker Double Chocolate muffins!!

Relief at last!

After being homebound for two weeks, Morgan and I are finally venturing back to the gym today and into our "normal" routine. Two weeks ago Morgan contracted some lovely virus at the library and vomitted twice, about 12 hours apart. Then her stools were a strange color for over a week...and then a mysterious fever hit for about 24 hours. Just when things were looking good, Kaden puked around 4AM last Thursday morning. Friday Jamie and Kaden tested positive for strep throat, so the doctor treated everyone but me...you know Moms never get sick! So this weekend was a little rough on sleep (Jamie's apparently is more than just strep, it's invaded his chest), but last night I think we all slept through! YAY!!! So we're crossing our fingers that the antibiotic has kicked those germs and that we're on our way to better days.

Paper-Eater

I just found this video that Kolton took the other day. Morgan made a massive mess of paper shreds on the floor, but when I gave her a grocery bag and told her to clean up - she gave me no fuss and actually did a great job of cleaning up.
